It’s January and we are already working on the ride for this year.  For those not familiar with our ride, I’ll give you a little history.  In 1992, a few Atlanta Police Officers with a love of motorcycles decided to escort a fallen officer’s funeral to Birmingham. The officer was Randy Schipani.  The following year, they returned to Birmingham.  Each year, more and more officers joined them.  The organizers decided to pick an area officer to honor and donate the proceeds to the family.  In 2000, Georgia lost 13 officers and it was decided to take the ride statewide.  The ride has been growing each year.  Thanks to the generosity of the Braves and Turner Field, the ride begins in their parking lot.  All proceeds go to Concerns of Police Survivors.  An organization that supports the families, friends, and co-workers of Fallen Officers in a variety of ways.  They make sure that they have all the information needed to participate in National Police Week.  They have retreats and seminars for everyone effected by the loss of an officer.   It takes an enormous amount of work and donations to plan and host 2000 ride participants.  We are in the planning stages and need sponsors for things like port-a-potties, food, drinks, volunteers, the list goes on and on.  I will try and post as we get definate plans on things.
